GS01 - Keynote: Creativity: Thinking Outside the (Cake) Box
When a new technology emerges, we too often apply existing ideas into the new tools. eLearning is often classroom training ported to computers; mobile applications are often desktop content edited for mobile consumption. The real potential of what learning can be is often found in the creative solutions that exist beyond the preconceptions. Creativity isn’t as easy as it looks, though. How can we break through the expectations of what is in order to discover the creative opportunities of what could be?
Duff Goldman knows this challenge very well. His work as a pastry chef is world-renown. He consistently breaks through expectations of what a cake is to create entirely new possibilities for what a cake can be. During this fascinating opening keynote Duff will share stories of his life and work, examining how a classically trained pastry chef and metal craftsman turned his unrelated passions into a unique, creative art form. He will also put the creative practices he will share into action, showcasing his decorating techniques live during an on-stage interview. Join us as Duff Goldman reflects on the stories and inspiration behind his confectionary masterpieces and shows that magic can happen when creativity is king and “no limits” is the mantra.
