214 - BYOD: SketchFabulous! Use SketchFab to Quickly Prototype an Awesome VR Experience
Virtual reality is a fantastic way to engage learners in an immersive experience, yet many professionals find themselves wondering: How can I create a VR proof-of-concept when I don't (yet) have the technical skills to use Unity or Unreal? Or: What if my audience uses different types of VR viewers—how do I target them all?
What if there was a way to create your first VR experience, a prototype to showcase for others on any VR device or even with browser only, without the steep learning curve of a high-end game engine? In this session, you'll learn how to use SketchFab, a FREE online platform, to create, showcase, and test your first VR experience, viewable in browser or any VR device. SketchFab makes it easy to create and implement a simple VR immersive experience. Using a simple, pre-built 3D object obtained from available online repositories such as Turbosquid, you'll upload a 3D model to SketchFab, add additional interactivity, and create for your first VR experience! Additionally, you'll see how to easily embed this VR view in any website, webpage, or even eLearning content to showcase your newly created VR experience to peers, stakeholders, and learners.
